Baby Davey....newest little addition
Our greatest and newest news of course is that we are expecting again and are anxious to welcome this little angel into our family. Shawn is expecting a new baby sibling (we will find out in about another month whether is it a little brother or sister) around March 15th, 2009. Shawn points at these ultrasounds and says "baby" without prompting by Mom or Dad. A moment to bring tears to Mom. It is amazing how much he knows even though he can't communicate it completely just yet.

18 Months!!!!
This past year and a half have zipped by, much faster than any of us were ready for, but they have definately been full of excitement and fun. Shawn is a ball of love and energy!! He is a "lovebug" for Mommy and a "wrestling buddy" for Daddy.
Of course Shawn passed his 18 month checkup (Mom and Dad were not worried). He measures 33 1/2 inches tall and 27 1/2 pounds! He has been growing like a weed, reaching new heights everyday!
He loves ringing the doorbell when entering the front door, and reaching things on the counters that Mom and Dad thought would surely be out of his reach. Shawn has been talking more and more and a few of his favorite words include:

A day escape to Oak Creek Canyon
Mom, Dad, and Shawn decide to escape the heat and head north for a day. We drove up to Sedona and went hiking in one of our favorite places to hike...Oak Creek Canyon. There you almost get almost a bit of everything we love to escape to. It has cool breezes, the sound of the wind through the canyon and trees, greenery surrounded by red rock walls of the canyon, and the constant sounds of rushing water in the creek. What a great escape! It gets tough getting out of town to cooler weather to take Shawn hiking like we enjoy, so this was a real treat! Shawn loved it too!

The hike starts and Shawn giggles and points at all the pretty views. He jabbers up a storm and even talks back to the birds chirping at him!

We take a little break near a still in the water. Shawn loved the freedom to run around and play a game of "How can I fool Dad and get around him to the water? Maybe I'll run toward Mom and then quickly dart to the right and straight around Dad, or maybe I'll act interested in a tree and point so that Dad will look and get distracted so I can get around him!"

Nice try Shawn, we knew what you were up to! Luckily we all left happy and dry :)

We had a blast and were a bit sad to leave. We'll have to come back and find more hikes because I think we have another nature lover on our hands :)
Big shoes to fill!!
Shawn loves his Daddy and he wants to be just like him! The best way to be just like Daddy is to wear his shoes! Even though they don't quite fit, Shawn loves to walk around the house wearing Daddy's shoes on his feet and sometimes even on his hands. It is so cute and I know that Daddy loves it too!!!

Playdough Time!
Shawn has been introduced to playdough and loves to squish and smash it. He didn't quite know what to think of it at first, but quickly warmed up to playing with it.
Dad loved playing with Shawn and the playdough and it brought back many great memories for Mom.
